Marshall Power Brake Manual
Hi, I have read several posts on converting from power brakes to manual brakes on my 77 and want to go that route due to my cam not producing enough vacuum. I have considered vacuum cans and pumps but am concerned that they will not work all the time and eventually the pump will fail.
I just realized, that the earlier second gens had a manual brake option. Is this conversion as simple as purchasing a manual brake master cylinder from a 74 camaro, a new brake push rod, bolting it on and running new lines? Will the standard proportioning valve still be used? Thanks for your help!!! I think all you'd have to do is remove the power booster. FWIW, I ran a Crane Cams vacuum can on my 77 for years and never - ever had a problem.

Maybe I got lucky, but I believe if you hook it up correctly and kept it maintained, and don't let the hoses rot away, you shouldn't have any problems, either, if you went that route.I also have manual brakes on my 69 Chevelle and I so wish I had power brakes on it. Manual brakes have a different feel to them and have to drive your car differently then what you're use to. If you are not use to driving with manual brakes, then I recommend sticking with the power brakes.
But then again, I'm not sure how or how often you drive your car or how crazy the cam is to not give enough vacuum.
