Even with that ridiculous setup I was still totally engrossed and hooked from start to finish.I remember this thing getting pretty mixed reviews on release, but it did a surprising amount of new and creative things. Plus, like this guy points out, the way that it stays faithful to the source material, balancing fan service throwbacks with new experiences grounded in the established world is amazing. As decent as it is, I kinda have the same feelings about it as I do Jurassic Park: Trespasser in that I hate that the concept wasn't executed to its full potential because nobody is going to go back to make it the way it should have been.
Does anybody remember the Spoony Experiment video of this? The big review that inspired Zero Punctuation (according to himself in an interview)? It's all I had heard about the game and had obviously painted it in a very negative light, until recently where it's been cropping up and many here seem to have very positive things to say about it.
I understand those 'reviews' are more for entertainment and are played up, but still. I'm beginning to think I should put forth the effort to try and play this game. Morbus is genuinely brilliant.I remember talking with this guy for ages on this snowy pitch black map, was some eastern european bloke and we were just best friends for like 5 minutes, talking to each other over the mic, talking about the English football league, throwing this guy a bigger gun, all that.Little did he know, I was one of the starting brood/The Thing whatever it was.

We were outside in the dark at this cubicle thing, I put my gun down inside and told him to check this gun out on the floor to lure him in, then I shot him a few times in the back with a pistol and transformed into this monster to finish him off with my claws and turn him to my side.He was so fucking freaked out and actually distraught that I betrayed him, it was so sad and funny, think he had a panic attack down the mic. Good question.In the movies all they really had were flamethrowers and guns were essentially useless anyway. Flame throwers with limited fuel. Sonic 3 and knuckles hd.

Also explosives towards the end, and I GUESS Grenades if you count that awful sequel to Thing.If I made this imaginary game, i'd make it so that you can't harm anyone UNLESS the Thing exposes itself which gives you a chance to attack it, as well as if say you get to a part in the game where you test everyones blood and can confirm a person is the Thing, then you also get a chance to attack. Otherwise, you can't harm a person. The Thing should also drop evidence after a kill which could help expose it, something like tooth fillings or something that can identify the person killed and replaced by the monster.Obviously i'm not a game dev, and put barely any thought into any of this and whether or not it would even be fun.
